This is a tip on how best to boil asparagus in the right way.
Method:
1. Fill a pot, large enough to place a basket to hold asparagus during cooking, with enough water to reach about half way up with the spears standing. Add a little salt to water.
2. When water boils, stand the asparagus bunch in the basket and cover the pot. The direct heat of the boiling water will cook the lower parts of the spears, while the steam will cook the tips, which are much more delicate.
3. Cook the asparagus for 8-10 mins, or until a fork penetrates the body of the spear easily, while the tips begin to droop.
4. Bear in mind not to overcook asparagus, as most people prefer undercooked asparagus to overcooked asparagus.
